Being a Carer is often a steep learning curve.
We navigate a whole range of challenges: accessing services, being recognised, gaining respite, managing day to day finances....
All of these hurdles; those you flew over and those you fell at, the good aspects and the flaws and problems associated with caring, have given you the knowledge to help shape services and the experiences of Carers.
From consultations to forums, this space is where you'll find current opportunities to get involved and have your voice heard.

We’ve teamed up with Sutton Council, the NHS, schools and other community partners to make Sutton a better place for Carers.
Together, we’re working with Carers to develop a Carers Strategy for Sutton. The Carers Strategy will bring people together to look at what’s working locally, what can be improved, and what’s missing.
We want to hear from unpaid carers of all ages, so if you’re supporting a friend or family member of any age who is disabled, has a physical or mental illness, a substance misuse issue or long-term condition, or perhaps who needs extra help as they grow older, we want to hear from you.
We have been doing a lot of preparation work to review what you have told us in the past, and to find out what Carers are saying nationally - but what is it like to care in Sutton at the moment? What is important to you?
Please share your views to shape Carer support in Sutton.

Fancy a leadership role?
Look out for opportunities for Carers to take on leadership roles as part of various consultation activities.
These are mainly volunteer roles, with some small ‘reward and recognition’ vouchers given as a treat, to say, "thank you". There also may be opportunities for some paid, sessional work with Sutton Carers Centre to help with the consultation.

Carers Strategy
Sutton Council asked for views on changes it could make to how people pay for adult social care. Proposed changes to the adult social care charging policy would mean that some people could pay more for their care and support, but the Council would have more money to support people who need care and are unable to pay for it.
The Council wrote directly to people who it thinks would be affected to understand what the impacts could be and what would help.
Look out for updates on consultations and strategy developments.
