Manual handling workshop

Updated: Oct 17

We had a brilliant Carers Connect special this week with Physiotherapist Viccie Nelson. This was part of our joint programme of training with other local Carers Centres and Integrated Care Support Services, funded by Southwest London Integrated Care Board.

Carers Connect is a blended session, so Carers attended online and in person for this extended 3 hour session. But time went very quickly with so much information and lots of great questions!

Focusing on our precious back, Viccie taught us all about how our bodies work, and how to manage mobilising people with mobility issues in a way that keeps ourselves and the person we care for safe whilst undertaking manual handling tasks.

We covered specific issues faced by those who attended and found out some really interesting methods about using positive communication, especially useful when caring for someone with dementia for example.

Find out about other free courses here.

Carers Connect Specials offer you the opportunity for a topical talk and Q&A with expert guest speakers.  If you have an idea for a topic, please get in touch.
